The Avenue Lofts
Originally built in 1923 as the Meier & Frank Warehouse, The Avenue Lofts was renovated in 2004 and is one of several Pearl District condominiums taking up residence in a renovated space. The building’s listing on the National Register of Historic Places gives residents a historic tax benefit as well as the novelty of living in one of Portland’s historic spaces.
Eight townhouses and 17 two-story penthouses are sprinkled in among 170 one-level units. Each condo features large windows and European lighting, and some floor plans feature 18-foot tall windows leading up the wall to 26-foot tall ceilings.
Units also feature gourmet kitchens complete with state-of-the-art appliances, classic hardwood maple floors, exposed columns and beautifully tiled bathrooms. Residents also have access to covered, secure parking.
A fitness center is also located in The Avenue Lofts. Located at 1400 NW Irving Street, the building is a short walk from vibrant shopping and restaurants and has an excellent view of the west hills.
The Avenue Lofts is named after pedestrian-only street made from Belgian cobblestone running along the side of the building. The cobblestone leads into the entry of the building, at the center of which lies a 5,500 square-foot atrium filling the building’s center from the third floor to the roof. The vast garden is open to the sky and serves as beautiful scenery for condo windows facing the building’s interior. Excellent light and ventilation also accompany views of this secret garden nestled in the heart of Portland.
